Discernment and Understanding

During the Logic stage, students build upon the knowledge mastered during the Grammar Stage and bring it into ordered relationships. Students are taught to apply logic in all subject areas by assessing the validity of arguments and learning to view information critically with a discerning mind.

This method is effective because Logic students are naturally inquisitive and argumentative. Student acuity and interest is characterized by contradicting, debating, and wanting to know the “why”. Rather than fighting against this natural and very important tendency, Imago Dei will train students how to reason, how to research, and how to debate effectively. Simply memorizing fragmented pieces of knowledge to pass a test is not enough. Our children must know how to think, not just what to think.

Developing Skills for Lifelong Impact

The Logic Stage (7th–8th Grade) is designed to equip students with essential skills that will serve them in leadership, academics, and their personal lives. Here’s how we help students build a foundation for meaningful influence:

Public Speaking and Presentation Skills
Students are encouraged to articulate their ideas with clarity and confidence through class discussions, speeches, and presentations. These experiences develop poise and the ability to communicate effectively in front of an audience.
Through group projects and activities, students learn to work with others, share responsibilities, and contribute to achieving common goals. This fosters a spirit of cooperation and respect for diverse perspectives.
Lessons and assignments are designed to challenge students to analyze problems, think creatively, and reason logically. These skills prepare them to navigate complex situations with wisdom and insight.
Whether through student council roles, leading team projects, or mentoring younger peers, students are given opportunities to practice servant leadership. These experiences build humility, responsibility, and a heart for service.
Students are taught to listen attentively to others, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in respectful debates. This nurtures their ability to engage in meaningful discussions, to evaluate differing opinions, to stand on Biblical truth, and to maintain a love and respect for others even when they disagree on specific viewpoints.
